Thomson Environmental Consultants
A purpose-driven workspace that transformed company culture
Thomson Environmental Consultants is a UK-based, employee-owned environmental consultancy. When their 20-strong Leeds team moved to Carrwood Park, the change reshaped daily working life and lifted the wider company culture, with people choosing to spend more time in the office than ever before.
Leaving an unproductive office behind
The team’s former office was outdated, sat in a built-up area with no green space nearby, and came with the daily frustration of city-centre traffic. Determined to find somewhere better, Ecological Consultant and Marketing Co-ordinator Charlotte Ward set out to explore alternatives across Leeds.
One visit to Carrwood Park was enough. “The contrast between our previous office and the potential we saw at Carrwood Park was astounding,” Charlotte recalled. “In that moment, I knew we had found the perfect place to thrive.”
A culture shift, almost overnight
Thomson offers its people the flexibility to split time between home and the office, but the move has shifted the balance. “We’re enjoying working at WorkWell so much that we’ve actually found ourselves spending more time in the office than ever before,” said Senior Ecological Estimator Amy Kennedy.
Charlotte puts much of that down to the welcome. “One of the things I love about the park is the friendly faces that greet us when we walk in, from both the WorkWell staff and other members. It’s so refreshing to feel that positive energy from the start of the day.”
Space that helps the team work better
A smaller, more intimate office has made the team more connected, not less. Air-conditioned Zoom pods give people somewhere private for client calls, breakout zones suit impromptu brainstorms, and bookable meeting rooms host client meetings, interviews and the all-important Monday morning catch-up. Secure parking and rentable storage units, ideal for survey equipment, round out the practical benefits, while regular events like the Summer by the Lake BBQ keep the community spirit high.
In their words
“WorkWell stood out to us because of its commitment to creating a thriving work environment. We wanted a workspace that prioritised our wellbeing and productivity, and Carrwood Park offered us just that.”
